Migroo is committed to operating as an ethical, fair, and responsible organisation. This policy outlines our principles for fair pay, inclusive contractor engagement, and respectful working relationships across all roles and functions.
The purpose of this policy is to ensure that all individuals working with Migroo, including contractors, freelancers, agency workers, and consultants, are treated equitably, paid fairly, and supported in a safe and respectful environment.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All contractors, freelancers, consultants, and suppliers
- All temporary or project-based workers
- Any individuals or teams engaged through agencies
- Internal Migroo founders, managers, and decision-makers responsible for hiring or oversight
It applies to all arrangements regardless of location.
3. Core Principles
3.1 Fair Compensation
Migroo commits to:
- Paying all contractors fair, market-aligned rates for their skills and experience.
- Ensuring no unpaid work, including trials, tests, or sample assignments unless voluntarily offered or mutually agreed.
- Paying invoices promptly within standard payment terms (typically 7–14 days unless otherwise agreed).
- Avoiding exploitative fee negotiations, including downward pressure that undermines financial security or value.
Migroo will not engage contractors at below-industry rates or take advantage of individuals in vulnerable economic positions.
3.2 Ethical Engagement
We will ensure:
- Clear expectations before work commences (scope, deliverables, timelines, rate).
- Transparent communication throughout engagements.
- Workload fairness, avoiding unreasonable hours, compressed timelines, or scope creep without mutual agreement.
- Written agreements outlining rights, responsibilities, and confidentiality where appropriate.
3.3 Respect, Safety, and Inclusion
Migroo fosters a working environment that is:
- Respectful
- Inclusive
- Free from discrimination, harassment, or harm
We commit to:
- Treating all contractors with dignity and professionalism
- Providing equitable opportunities regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, religion, sexuality, or background
- Ensuring psychological safety, including respectful communication and feedback practices
No contributor should ever feel undervalued, uncomfortable, or unsafe in their engagement with Migroo.
3.4 Responsible Work Practices
Migroo supports flexible, healthy, and sustainable working methods. This includes:
- Remote-friendly engagement
- Reasonable deadlines
- Respect for personal time zones
- Avoiding “always-on” expectations
- Encouraging breaks, rest, and balance
3.5 Compliance
All engagements must comply with:
- The Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth)
- Relevant Australian workplace laws
- Any applicable overseas labour laws when engaging international contractors
- Industry best practice for ethical contracting
4. Supplier and Service Provider Expectations
Where Migroo engages external service providers (e.g., designers, developers, marketing agencies), we encourage alignment with our ethical standards. Preference may be given to suppliers who:
- Demonstrate fair labour practices
- Are sustainability-aligned or B Corp certified
- Uphold diversity and inclusion principles
5. Dispute Resolution & Feedback
Contractors may raise concerns regarding:
- Pay
- Working conditions
- Scope issues
- Treatment
- Communication breakdowns
Concerns can be directed to Migroo leadership.
All concerns will be treated seriously, respectfully, and confidentially.
Migroo will:
- Address issues promptly
- Seek resolution collaboratively
- Adjust internal processes where necessary
6. Review and Continuous Improvement
This policy will be reviewed annually as part of Migroo’s broader ethical governance framework.
Migroo may update this policy to reflect:
- Changes in legislation
- B Corp certification requirements
- Organisational growth
- Contractor feedback
- Evolving best practice in ethical tech operations
